The work was a private vent on the neighbour’s cat.
We had lived in the house for 5 years slowly planting a bird friendly environment to provide another plant corridor particularly for small birds to travel through. Our neighbour to the north has a veritable forest of native and fruit bearing trees. The delights in bird watching from our deck are a privilege and provide an oasis for mind and body. Our neighbour to the south has a cat.
“Yeah, he’s a killer” exclaimed the owner after I relayed their cat’s bird killing activities in our garden.
I had dreams of catching and tormenting the cat in a hope that fear and loathing would prevent it from coming into our garden. The City’s rangers said they could trap it if it was not “chipped”. In the end our neighbours moved. And the birdlife has exploded with the garden.
